Leftover Coffee as Iced Coffee

Instead of wasting leftover coffee, my grandmother taught me to keep extra coffee in a jar in the refrigerator. She does this, and heats it up in a small pot when she wants hot coffee. But since it’s summer, we can take a spin on this frugal habit and turn it into iced coffee.

Iced coffee and iced tea is usually made twice as strong so that the ice does not dilute it too much. But I find that I never seem to have iced coffee ready to go when I want it, so instead of making coffee specifically for use as iced coffee, I freeze some leftover coffee as ice cubes, and store the rest in the refrigerator. It couldn’t be easier, and once a batch of the coffee-ice is made, ice coffee is just seconds away.
