Product Worth the Price: Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo

I've been using dry shampoo for years now, and it is one of the things I keep well-stocked in my bathroom.

I first learned about dry shampoo several years ago when my roomate's mother, who had used it in high school, passed on a bottle of Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo to her daughter, and she shared it with me. I had heard it is better for one's hair to not wash it everyday, but that had never been an option for me until I tried dry shampoo, so it was a wonderful product to learn about.

In the subsequent years, many more types of dry shampoos have been introduced into the market, and the allure of spray versions, which are faster for application, tempted me to try out about a dozen different brands in every possible price range. While there are some I like, I keep going back to the powder version that Oscar Blandi offers. Even though it takes a little longer to distribute into my hair, I find that one application will last for a couple days if I want to go that long between hair washes. I also do not notice a change in hair color from this one as I have with a few others.

I usually apply dry shampoo by pulling my hair up into a loose topknot, because this allows the scalp to be somewhat visible. I add it in everywhere except the topknot (which doesn't really need it), and rub it in like normal shampoo. I think it's a little faster to apply it like this than to lift up sections of hair as the instructions say to do.

The Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo is more expensive than some of the drugstore spray-in dry shampoos, but the number of applications one can get out of a bottle far exceeds any spray bottle I've come across. So, between the number of applications per bottle, and the way each application last so much longer, I believe this is the most economical dry shampoo available. Plus, since it is not an aerosol or a liquid, it can be tossed in a carry-on, giving travelers the option of less time spent on one's hair, and more time spent enjoying the destination.

(I test a lot of products. In order for it to be a Products Worth the Price, it must be an item I've lived with for a while and absolutely will purchase again.)
