Cheap Trick: Sugar Face Scrub

Exfoliating is a simple way to get rid of older skin cells and improve the look of one's skin. There are so many scrubs on the market, but they can be very pricey, and even if they are not, why pay for something one can make herself?

Well, here's why: some of us dislike making certain things.

I enjoy doing all sorts of projects, but when it comes to DIY beauty projects, I've never felt much of a calling to put a lot of time or effort in. Maybe it's that I believe the expensive version will be better, or maybe I just never got into it and would love it if I gave it a try.

Either way, there is one super simple DIY I use for exfoliating... A jar of sugar.

There are hundreds of tutorials on mixing different food items with the sugar: lemon, olive oil, coconut oil, and honey are a few of these options. And in each of these tutorials, the common item being used is sugar because, really, it's just the sugar that is necessary to create a gentle scrub.

I love those tiny jars of jelly for all sorts of things, and one use I put them to is keeping sugar handy in the bathroom. I wet my finger tips, pour some of the sugar into my hand, and scrub it into my skin in small circles. Rinse, and that's it. If I'm feeling fancy, I might wet my finger tips with the coconut oil that is in the bathroom for hair conditioning, or honey from the kitchen, but usually I just use water. Keeping the ingredients separate means they will not spoil while still keeping me from mixing up a batch each time I want to exfoliate.

It is a natural, free, and easy way to take care of one's skin. And if I gently scrub my lips too, I don't mind if a bit gets in my mouth, since it certainly tastes much better than any store-bought scrub ever could taste.
