Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving week is the busiest travel week of the year, which means lots of high airplane ticket prices. Add in the cab to the airport, and one is already paying a huge amount of money even before she steps into the airport. Obviously, using a carry on can avoid checked bag fees, but the only other place to save money while flying is on food and drinks.

One may not want to sit at the airport before the flight, and then on the plane, without anything to eat -- often flights fall over meals, and even more often, the airline will charge for snacks more substantial than peanuts. Plus, what if one wants to have a drink on her way?

Everyone knows to avoid the wines offered on board, but the mini bottles are not always terribly appealing either. Stopping at the package store before heading out and picking up a couple of mini bottles from a brand one likes means not only saving money on the flight, but also enjoying the type of liquor one prefers. Grab a couple of snack bars full of protein, or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and an apple from home, and the flight will be much more enjoyable.

If you're headed out of town for Thanksgiving, safe travels! Either way, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving full of good food, lots of love, and fun activities. And if you're getting started on a Christmas card list, I wish you luck!
