What to Wear with Heeled Booties

Lately, I've been loving wearing very classic-looking clothes with very modern shoes.

Have you noticed that the chunky-heeled booties that are plentiful right now look great with skirts? This was something I was very happy to discover, because I'm nearly always in a skirt or dress, which I find to be somewhat limiting for my footwear choices. Pumps always look great with skirts and dresses, and ballet flats are an easy go-to, but sometimes one wants a heel height in between, and that's when chunky boots come in handy.

Even though they're very modern, heeled booties with a nice fat, substantial heel have a hint of classic 1930's glamour to them, making them perfect with both modern clothing and slightly older classic styles as well.

I'm kinda obsessed with my Rag & Bone boots -- I've got a couple pairs, and they always seem to be perfect with everything. Brooks Brothers uses beautiful leather in their shoes, and they have a stunning pair in this style, but with a skinnier heel. Madewell also has some nice-looking options, and they're on sale right now.

They are the perfect balance of classic and modern to wear with everything, and they keep vintage finds from looking like a costume... Even when one stands near an old stove like this one.
